Teardown — BmMT 2026 Volunteer Guide

Teardown Timeline

End of Relay (~3:30 PM)

  • Teardown manager:
    • Send out announcement for Teardown volunteers to meet outside Wheeler
    • Bring all our tubes of wipes (except 1 maybe)
  • After releasing students, proctors should:
    • Rearrange desks
    • Gather large pieces of trash
    • Head to their next assigned location (Activities, Teardown)

During Activities (~3:40 PM)

  • Split off into groups of 2–3
  • Order: WHLR → VLSB → DWIN non-activities' classrooms

Room Checklist (do this in every room/auditorium!):

  • Pick up trash from floors and desks. If students have drawn on the desks, try to erase as much as you can.
  • Reorganize desks and chairs to proper order
  • Ensure the projector has been turned off
  • Wipe down desks
  • Send a picture in the Discord thread (#Teardown Photos) with the message [BUILDING, ROOM #]
  • Take off BMT sign from door

In Hallways:

  • Take off any BMT signage
    • If paper, throw away (recycle)
    • If not, bring back to Dwinelle Ops HQ
  • Pick up any trash
  • Leave up any signage related to Awards / auditoriums

In Satellite Ops HQs:

  • Recycle any papers, toss away food waste, etc.
  • Rearrange chairs and desks, and make sure there are the right number of each
  • Bring back any testing boxes, blank scratch paper reams, leftover untouched food, people's items if they aren't there, etc. to DWIN 211
  • Send picture to Discord thread

End of Activities / During Awards (~5:00 PM)

  • Head to Dwinelle Activities rooms
    • Materials should have been brought back to DWIN 211 by activities hosts
    • Rooms: DWIN 182, 183, 187, 189, 109, 106, 105, 246, 247, 258
  • Same room checklist as above

In Hallways:

  • Start taking down signage
  • Bring sandwich boards into DWIN 211 (Ops HQ), recycle paper signage

In DWIN 211 (Ops HQ):

  • Throw away all food boxes and food waste
  • Use the Inventory Manager's list to understand what to keep and throw out

End of Awards

  • Teardown manager: Send out announcement for each auditorium to begin teardown & the group photo will be taken ~30 minutes after end of awards, so the auditorium needs to be entirely cleaned up by then
  • For each auditorium:
    • Drop off any BMT tables, tablecloth, any spare awards to DWIN 211 before coming to Pauley
    • Recycle signage from auditorium doors

After Group Photo

Teardown Pauley:

  • Clean up trash
  • Rearrange chairs
  • Unplug and return mics

Teardown Ops Corridor:

  • Assign people to smaller parts of the Ops Corridor
  • Recycle: Used scratch paper
  • Keep: Test boxes, envelopes, materials
  • Shove everything into the UHaul
